Every week we’ll be bringing you the best of the Malaysian music scene. Keep your finger on the pulse with this rundown of three live acts performing in Klang Valley in the next few days.

1. Michael Leaner & Sachiè Amira

Michael Leaner is a singer-songwriter known for his soulful tone and collaborations with well-known celebrities, such as AF1 winner Vince Chong and comedic queen Joanne Kam. He was also recently chosen to perform in the honorary presence of Tun Dr Mahathir and Siti Asmah during their wedding anniversary.

23-year-old Sachiè Amira has gone from tribute concerts in International College of Music, to background vocals for local artists, to KL headlining shows by herself in the indie and jazz scene. She is now undergoing preparation for her debut album which will have a touch of pop, R&B, funk, ballad & trip-hop.

2. TMJB

Consisting of Maha Jeffery (vocals and guitar), Prasad Shankar (lead guitar), Adriel Chan (bass), Sid Murshid (keys and vocals), Axam Maumoon (saxophone), and Isaac Miranda (drums), The Maha Jeffery Band (TMJB) is known for their energetic live shows and eccentric personalities. Their style ranges from blues, rock and roll, reggae, jazz, pop and R&B.

TMJB will be hosting an event, ‘All The Lonely People’ at Merdekarya this Valentine’s Day. Other performing acts include Blister, SID, Dani, and Kevinthebigcity.

3. Az Samad & Kirsten Long

Az Samad has been performing across the United States, Europe and Asia for the past 19 years. With a blend of classical guitar and jazz, Az’s compositions can be enjoyed by both experienced jazz enthusiasts and the general audience. He has 17 years of teaching experience, including 4 degrees in musical training.

Since the age of 5, Kirsten Long has been trained on the piano, and possesses a strong passion in writing and performing her own compositions. She currently teaches classical and contemporary piano (jazz and pop), as well as vocals (jazz, broadway, pop).
