Urbanscapes has announced another international music act for it’s 2016 festival!
Indie electro-pop band, M83, is a one man band; that man being Anthony Gonzalez. Named after a spiral galaxy, Messier 83, this band started out as a duo in 2001, with Nicholas Fromageau creating music alongside Anthony Gonzales.
Now Anthony Gonzales records mostly on his own, sometimes assisted by his brother Yann Gonzalez on vocals, drummer Loïc Maurinoi, and keyboardist Morgan Kibby.
Over the years, M83 has released six albums, including the 2013 Grammy-nominated Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming‘. 2013 also saw M83 being chosen to compose the soundtrack for Tom Cruise’s movie, Oblivion.
Inspired by music of the 80’s such as bands like My Bloody Valentine, Pink Floyd, and Tangerine Dream, M83’s eclectic style has afforded them stints at major music festivals around the world including Coachella and Lollapalooza.
