3 live performances in Klang Valley this week, 2nd March 2016

Every week we’ll be bringing you the best of the Malaysian music scene. Keep your finger on the pulse with this rundown of three live acts performing in Klang Valley in the next few days.

1. Ariff AB

Alternative-indie, freak folk singer-songwriter Ariff AB has been buzzing the KL music scene and the International scene mid-2010. At the age of just 20, Ariff AB had toured China with the local band One Buck Short, singer-songwriter Liyana Fizi and Zalila Lee in 2010.

His debut single ‘Bye-Bye Baby’ was on 2nd spot on the Hitz.fm MET10 charts. He then released his 2nd single called ‘Elena’, that gave a big kick- starter in the both the UK and US. He recently released his first debut album entitled ‘Transmission’ and was featured by music writers and reviewers as one the many singer- songwriters to watch out for  in London.

2. Jon Liddell

Jon Liddell is a singer-songwriter who was born in the UK but raised in Malaysia. Inspired by YouTube musicians, such as Boyce Avenue and Tyler Ward, he decided to upload his own covers on YouTube. In December 2014, Jon Shared the stage at #Ohhsome Fest 2014 and The Curve’s NYE Benefit Relief Concert, where he performed alongside David Choi, An Honest Mistake, Wong Fu Productions, Elizabeth Tan and Altimet. Some of his influences include Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Jason Mraz, James Morrison, Life House, Goo Goo Dolls, John Mayer.

Laundry will be hosting their sixth ‘Unplugged’ event. Other acts performing include Dragon Red, Hamir Zawawi, and Annatasha Saifol.

3. Samantha De Lune

5th March 2016, 9.30pm

21-year-old Samantha is a complex, cynical and stubborn dry-humor endorser, who has a passion for music, musical theatre, screen acting and life. She has been singing in public for two years now and has performed on stages such as the Collision Arts Asia Festival, KLPAC and Penang Island Jazz Festival.

Samantha’s repertoire consists of songs in English, Mandarin, Malay, Indonesian and Hokkien. Some of her influences include Judy Garland, The Fray, Eva Cassidy, and Lea Salonga.
