This post is brought to you in part by the Australian International School Malaysia (AISM).

An Australian education has produced 15 Nobel Laureates, Olympic gold medallists, scientists, inventors and business leaders who have made a big impact on the global stage.

Now residents of Malaysia can get a taste of the Australian education system during Australian International School Malaysia (AISM)’s Open Week, which takes place from 14th to 19th March 2016, from 10am to 1pm.

out of class

The event will showcase how Australian education has helped to produce more than its fair share of the world’s best and brightest minds at the Australian International School Malaysia.

The AISM’s Principal and Heads of School will be providing an overview of the school’s student-centred teaching and learning methods, which emphasise building of life skills such as resilience, communication, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking.

Visitors can learn how their child can benefit from the ongoing assessments, regular feedback and varied testing methods as opposed to just being assessed through one major examination.

BlackBox Theatre

A tour of the school will show how the latest thinking strategies are nurtured in an open, collaborative classroom environment, and guests can discover how independent learning can transform a child’s learning outcomes.

Special activities

There are a number of activities for the whole family through the week of 14th to 19th March:

Children from 2-5 years old

Pre-School

Families with younger children will be treated to a storytelling and play session at the school’s Junior School library and mini-amphitheatre. For a first-hand experience, there are parent-child trial sessions (held on a different day and booking is necessary) with the school’s Admissions team.

Children between 6-12 years old

JS Art Room

There are numerous fun activities in store for the children, while the parents attend talks. The children can attend a science class by Sciencewerks (a co-curricular activity provider at the school) or learn to use new Apple technologies used by the school, under the guidance of an Australian teacher.

Children above 12 years old

Presentation from the Senior Students

Guests can experience first-hand the Australian style of teaching and learning during trial classes where children will be able to join a lesson and interact with teachers and students in a classroom. Booking is required.

Special Offers during Open Week

The AISM application fee will be waived for all applications placed during this week. The school is offering an exclusive 50% discount on the admission fee for students entering Year 11.
