Prince of Wales Island International School: Boarding at its Best

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

This post is brought to you in part by Prince of Wales Island International School (POWIIS).

POWIIS has on-campus boarding halls, with residential teams of experienced teaching staff providing 24-hour supervision and support. Boys and girls live in separate buildings, in spacious and well-designed rooms. Sixth formers have the option to sleep in single rooms, whilst the younger students sleep in doubles.

About boarding at POWIIS

At POWIIS, there are three types of boarding available. Full boarding is a popular option, with students living entirely on campus. The boarders have regular weekend excursions with their respective Heads of Halls, and enjoy stimulating, educational outings. Some students choose boarding weekly instead, returning home on the weekends. If space permits, POWIIS also has a flexi-boarding opportunity where students are allowed to stay for a night or two when they wish.

It is often seen that children who opt to board become more self-sufficient and independent, enjoying their time at school surrounded by their friends and classmates. These students quickly become adept at managing their time and resources, important skills for university and adult life. The extended access to staff and facilities in school enable students to have an enriched and more complete experience of school life.
