The University of Nottingham is described by The Times Good University Guide 2015 as “the nearest Britain has to a truly global university, with campuses in China and Malaysia modelled on a headquarters that is among the most attractive in Britain”.

Opened in September 2000, the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC) became the first British university to set up a campus both outside of the UK and in Malaysia, earning them the Queen’s award for Enterprise 2001 and the Queen’s Award for Industry (International Trade) 2006. Besides that, according to the QS World University Rankings (2015), the school is also placed 70th in the world, which puts them in the top 1% of the best universities worldwide.

In September 2005, the Malaysia Campus moved to its own purpose-built site in Semenyih, 30km south of Kuala Lumpur. As a self-contained, vibrant village situated on an attractive and landscaped 125-acre site, UNMC has about 5,000 students and around 700 teaching and administrative staff from all over the world. Foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate taught and research courses at UNMC are held within 17 schools and departments across the faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Engineering, and Science. With such great facilities and teaching standards, it’s no surprise that the graduates are highly sought-after, with 92% employed or opted for further study six months upon graduation.

Apart from that, the university also has an international reputation for world changing research, a status which extends across all their campuses. In fact, the school was ranked 8th for research power in the latest Research Excellence Framework. Having a particular focus on addressing the challenges facing Southeast Asia and countries in the Islamic world, the institute’s research capacity has developed rapidly and an increased number of research grants have been funded from various sources in Malaysia, the EU, and the UK, with total funding reaching up to RM13 million in 2014. Therefore, the Malaysian Qualifications Agency has granted UNMC self-accrediting status – one of only a limited number of universities to be granted such an accolade.

Offering the best of UK education in an Asian setting, the programmes provided are identical to those offered at The University of Nottingham in the UK which follows the same quality assurance processes; and students are awarded University of Nottingham degree certificates upon completing their course. On top of that, the university also offers excellent opportunities for students to study abroad at the UK and China Campuses, as well as at their other partnering universities across the globe, offering inter-campus, international exchange, and summer school programmes.
