The Red Bull Music Academy (RBAM) is back again for another edition of its month-long music workshop and festival series that will take place next year in Berlin from 8th September to 12th October 2018. The global music institution is committed to fostering creativity in music and is looking for the talented and creative musicians to take part in this event, to foster creativity in music.
After making its way to cities across the globe including Tokyo, New York, Melbourne, Cape Town, São Paulo, and Montréal, the Academy is returning to where it all began in 1998 to celebrate it’s 20th anniversary. The event will be graced by some of the best talents in music from around the world and you have the chance to be a part of it, just as The Venopian Solitude, RBAM’s first Malaysian alumnus last year.
The 2018 edition will see 60 up and coming musicians from around the world selected and flown to Berlin to embark on a creative journey that will be life-changing. At the Academy, there will be lectures from various influential artists, an exchange of knowledge in custom-built studios, and collaborations between the attendees as well as a series of public concerts and club nights across the city. It’s where influential musicians meet the new generation of talents to celebrate music and learn from each other.
If you’re worried about fitting into a specific genre, don’t worry. The Academy welcomes diverse musical styles, all levels of experience, and all skill sets. Whether you’re an instrumentalist, producer, DJ, engineer, or vocalist, you’re welcomed to apply. All you need to bring with you is an openness to collaboration and an interest in music and the future.
How to apply
Malaysians can download the application form from the Academy’s website, redbullmusicacademy.com, and be sure to submit it by 4th September 2017. Each applicant must also submit a musical demo, no longer than 30 minutes, uploaded to redbullmusicacademy.com/apply or mailed to the Academy on a CD. Selected applicants will then be announced in early 2018.
