1. CIMB Classics

First played in 2010, the CIMB Classic in the only official PGA TOUR FedExCup event in Southeast Asia. Co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Professional Golf Association of Malaysia, it is held at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club with a prize purse of USD 7 Million and no cut, making it one of the richest professional golf tournaments in the region. Since it was first staged, the tournament has attracted world class professionals like Tiger Woods, Henrik Stenson, Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia, Ernie Els, and Ryo Ishikawa.

2. Borneo International Beads Conference 2017

Discover all there is to know about the centuries-old craft of beads and beading. Listen to stories of how beads hold significance in history, mythology, economy and fashion; get some hands-on beadmaking and bead-working experience through workshops; and get your hands on some beads and beadwork at the Beads Abuzz Bazaar held throughout the conference.

3. Mr Big Live in KL

American hard rock group Mr. Big – the band behind timeless hits like To Be With You and Wild World – are coming to Kuala Lumpur. In October, Mr. Big will be gracing the Mega Star Arena as part of a world tour to promote their latest album, Defying Gravity, which was released in July 2017 and took only six days to record.

Fans can expect a night of pure nostalgia as the band rocks out to their classic hits as well as their recent releases. The current and original Mr. Big line-up comprises frontman Eric Martin, Billy Sheehan on the bass, Paul Gilbert on guitars and drummer Pat Torpey.

4. Borneo Bird Festival 2017

The Borneo Bird Festival celebrates the feathered beauties of Borneo, creating public awareness in conservation efforts while promoting birdwatching and eco-tourism activities. A total of 688 resident and migratory bird species have been recorded in Borneo, 60 of which  are endemic. Highlights at this annual festival include a Bird Race, a guided bird walk, photography contests, workshops, exhibitions and activities for children. It’ll be a fun day out with the family.

5. Nine Emperor Gods Festival

The Nine Emperor God’s Festival is a Taoist festival celebrated on the 1st to 9th day of the ninth month according to the lunar calendar and it celebrated to invoke the spirits of the Nine Gods to descend to earth. Throughout the festival, many rituals such as skewering and fire walking ceremonies are performed. Devotees also adhere to a vegetarian diet for the duration of the festival. On the ninth day, the Gods are sent off via a procession leading to the sea on an “Emperor Boat” accompanied by many colourful floats. It’s a cultural festival you should experience at least once.

6. 10th International KL Eco Film Fest

Malaysia’s first and longest-running environmental film festival is back again this year for its 10th installation. In the last eight years, KLEFF has reached thousands of people in Malaysia through its film screenings and programs across peninsular Malaysia, bringing to light environmental stories and documentaries. Some of the 10 local and international films that will be screened this year include Operation Sumatran Rhino, Straw, and The Stolen River.

7. Traditional Arts Showcase 2017

Traditional Arts Showcase 2017 (PST2017) returns to entertain the fans and tourists in Kuala Lumpur. This programme has been held by National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) for five consecutive years, and the implementation of the programme is in collaboration with Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC). The Traditional Theater – Jikey is the 3rd instalment of the 2017 Traditional Arts Showcase programme and will be performed by the Persatuan Penggerak Warisan Seni Budaya (AKRAB Kedah).

8. Halloween Run

Celebrate Halloween this year in a fun way by running as fast as you can! This 5km run increases creativity and cooperation, great for young adults and students. Held at MAEPS Serdang, the place will be transformed to terrify and delight you all at the same time!
