Owning a pet is more then just play time and cuddles. Just like children, pets also need to be taken care of medically, and in the event of an accident, time is of the essence to get them tended to. Hence, it is important to know the closest pet hospital to you. Here’s a list of pet hospitals in the country to make sure your little furry companion is in the pink of health.

1. Animal Medical Care Centre (KL, Ulu Klang, and Kepong)

This hospital has been around since it’s opening in 1972 by its founder, Dr S. Sivagurunathan, who was also a pioneer in emergency veterinary services in Malaysia. The facility has since then introduced various facilities and services in-line with international standards of practice. where the corporate headquarters, Animal Medical Centre is an internationally accredited referral hospital.

2. Gill’s Veterinary Clinic (Penang)

Two qualified vets, who are pet lovers and Penang natives, run the establishment. Dr Kuljit Singh Gill joined the clinic in 1995 and is a veterinary advisor to the SPCA Penang. The other vet at the clinic is Dr Amreet Singh Gill who qualified as a vet in 2001 from Universiti Putra Malaysia. The clinic offers 24-hour out of hours emergency service. Their other services include grooming of ‘difficult’ animals, either too aggressive or nervous for pet shops to attend to, assistance in arranging for pets to be relocated out of Malaysia, and pick up facilities, where pets can be brought to the clinic for you.

3. Gasing Veterinary Hospital

Having opened its doors in 2008, Gasing Veterinary Hospital is considered to be one of PJ’s finest. Some of the services available here include general consultation, surgery, blood testing, MRI, radiology, dental, house calls, and after-hour emergencies as well as treatments relating to echocardiography, oncology, electrocardiography, colonoscopy, and dietetics. However, be prepared for a long wait if you’re taking your pet in for a non-emergency, as they don’t take appointments.

6. Thats Animal Centre (Johor)

The THATS in the name stands for traditional herbal, acupuncture therapy for small animals, but the centre also focuses on clinic and surgery services. 7. Alliance Mobile Veterinary Services (Miri, Sarawak)

Alliance Mobile Veterinary Services (AMVS) is affiliated to Live Animals Medical Centre (LAMC), Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia, which was founded by Dr Ling Tung King in 1983 and has been providing veterinary services throughout North Borneo i.e. Sarawak, Brunei and Labuan, and has covered more than a million kilometres on the road to date. Services include mobile veterinary services, international pet export and import, pet trade, and pet boarding.

9. Vets for Pets Animal Centre (Kuchai Lama and Solaris Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur)

Vets for Pets Animal Clinic was only established in 2012, but it has won plaudits for its after-hours emergency services. In addition to its focus on small animal medicine and surgery, this fledging veterinary practice also dabbles in boarding, basic grooming and pet accessories retailing.
