When travelling, it’s important to find the right kind of accommodation to suit your needs and sometimes, especially when travelling with family, the needs tend to increase and get a little bit more complicated. If you have ever been in need of a service apartment coupled with the kind of room service one would get at a hotel, SubHome is something that you should consider.

SubHome is a platform that manages and markets private home rentals and offers guests value-for-money lodging experience, complete with hotel facilities and services, such as daily housekeeping, high-quality linen, and front-desk services. Units under subHome are typically at least 500 square feet and have services that one may find in a service apartment, such as a fully equipped kitchen, smart TV, Wi-Fi, safe box, and ironing facilities. It is also a good opportunity for property investors to get a piece of the pie, as SubHome will manage home rentals, leaving home owners at peace.

SubHome’s home-sharing platform was founded by Sandeep S Grewal and has been operating since 2016 but recently it gained two new investors –Tune and ECM Libra, under the joint venture Tune Plato Ventures Sdn. Bhd. – where the pair have acquired a 50% stake in the business. Co-founder of Tune Group, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, said SubHome offers homeowners and developers an alternative channel to monetise their properties and increase lodging choices with a suite-like accommodation for value-conscious travellers, and loyal Tune Hotel guests. With the partnership, SubHome units will be listed on Tune’s accommodation portals.

“Tune Hotels and SubHome share great synergies. We will be able to offer our extended-stay guests and families, larger, more amenity-filled rooms and provide SubHome with operational support and controls through systems, processes and expertise at Tune Hotels,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sandeep said SubHome was able to provide a viable solution to landlords in the soft rental market.

“No longer are there units left empty for months or owners having to compete to join the price war with other landlords for the small pool of tenants. Plus, we take all the operational pain away from the property owner to make this truly a hands-off investment,” he said.

Currently, there are 417 units nationwide in Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Penang, and Johor, with 200 units operating under SubHome at The Robertson, Kuala Lumpur  Here’s look at how the rooms look like and what they offer:
