School Snaps: Epsom Debate Society (EDS)

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Epsom Debate Society (EDS) is going from strength to strength this term as younger year groups get involved. Year 7-9 students have been working with Sixth Form mentors to prepare for Inter-House competitions. The older students have led the way, competing in a range of public speaking competitions – most recently coming 3rd in the Malaysian National Public Speaking Competition, and also the Dato’ Bill Davidson Trophy Moot organised by the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Malaysia, in which we came second. These activities have stretched, challenged, and engaged students in academic discourse beyond the curriculum.

It is great to see students putting themselves outside their comfort zones, growing personally, socially, and intellectually as a result. The ability to communicate effectively and embrace challenge is invaluable in all areas of life, and at ECiM, we are committed to fostering these skills and attributes.
