Sunway International School was first established in 2008 as a secondary school in Sunway City, Kuala Lumpur. SIS Sunway City is the only Ministry of Education Ontario licensed school in Malaysia to offer the globally recognised Canadian (Ontario) School Curriculum. SIS Sunway City campus is also an IB World School for its International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme offerings. By 2023, SIS Sunway City will began offering primary programmes (Grades 1 – 5) at its new purpose-built campus.

In 2017, SIS’s second campus was established in Sunway Iskandar, Johor. SIS Sunway Iskandar campus offers programmes from kindergarten up to pre-university level following the Canadian (Ontario) Curriculum in Kindergarten to Grade 5, and IB Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) for Grades 6 – 10, and the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) for Grades 11 and 12.

SIS is one of 16 learning institutions under the Sunway Education Group, an entity fully owned and governed by the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation (JCF), a non-for-profit organisation, modelled after some of the oldest and most eminent institutions in the world, ensures that surpluses are used to provide and sustain quality education for present and future generations.

The Canadian (Ontario) & International Baccalaureate programmes are well established and consistently ranked among the world’s best in education due to their innovative, globally oriented, and multi-disciplinary focus. In the recent Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) study conducted by OECD, Canada ranked top amongst other traditional English-speaking countries such as the United Kingdom, United States, Australia and New Zealand.
