In case it might have slipped anyone’s minds during MCO 3.0, the BTS K-Pop Meal is about to cause pure pandemonium!
When the news broke four weeks ago, social media was ablaze to learn that the Korean mega-group BTS was collaborating with the world’s biggest fast food chain to launch their own K-Pop Meal. The partnership is the latest collaboration that the Korean pop group dropped over the past few months which includes a phone case partnership with Casetify, a camping gear collection with Helinox, a flash tattoo team up with Inbox, and even singing Coca Cola’s Turn Up Your Rhythm campaign, which featured the band covering the song, Jungle.
McDonald’s is showcasing BTS to nearly 50 countries in a one-of-a-kind, exclusive menu ‘tour’ that officially kicks off on May 26. The first stop of the BTS Meal will be in the US, Canada, Austria, and Malaysia!
The BTS Meal includes a nine-piece Chicken McNuggets, large World Famous Fries, a large drink, and exclusive sweet chilli and cajun dipping sauces inspired by popular recipes from McDonald’s in South Korea. Fans can enjoy the band’s signature order at participating restaurants across the nation. But seeing as how we’re still on lockdown until (at least) June 7, food delivery apps are expected to be inundated with BTS Meal orders!
Although extremely exciting for fans, this collaboration does not come as a surprise as the band —RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook— have worked with the fast food giant before, releasing a specially remixed version of their Japanese song, Crystal Snow that can only be listened to via McDonald’s Wi-Fi in Japan.
In fact, BTS fans around the world are so knowledgeable about their favourite mega-group, they’re fully aware how BTS only chooses to collaborate with brands that they personally like, or whose message they connect with, despite being approached by top brands from around the world for ambassadorships.
“The band has great memories with McDonald’s. We’re excited about this collaboration and can’t wait to share the BTS Meal with the world,” says Bighit Music, the label of BTS.
Meanwhile, McDonald’s is having a field day promoting their collab with the band!
BTS super-fans have not only been patiently, they’re also hoping that the exclusive meal comes with special band merchandise like photo cards that are all the rage now. Guess we’ll know soon enough!
