Golfers can tee up in September for an outstanding cause with this tournament to help fund relocation expenses for one of Malaysia’s most well-known animal shelters.
PAWS Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is registered under the Registry of Societies in Malaysia and is led by an elected committee. It is a non-profit animal shelter in Petaling Jaya that has been in operation since 1987. They receive the surrender of unwanted dogs and cats which they vaccinate, de-worm, medicate, neuter/spay, and put up for adoption.
Currently, there are over 250 dogs and 250 cats under their care. The shelter and all costs involved in running it are entirely funded by the generous donations of the public, as well as by proceeds from charitable events.
The plot of land along the old Subang airport road on which their facility was located for 34 years has been gazetted as road reserve land by the government. With this land soon to be developed, the Land Office gave PAWS just two months to relocate.
The government did give the shelter an alternative plot in Ara Damansara, but it is an empty piece of land divided by a road reserve. This is where PAWS’ new facility is going to be built.
One of their initiatives to raise funds is the PAWS – Better Malaysia Foundation Inaugural Charity Golf 2022, to be held at the Bukit Jalil Golf & Country Club on Friday, September 9, 2022. The fee for an individual player is RM1,000 and RM4,000 for a flight of four players.
All donations to PAWS are tax-deductible under Subsection 44(6) of the Income Tax Act 1967, and a tax-free receipt will be issued.
Besides enjoying a good game of golf, highlights of the event include lunch, cocktails, a talk show, live band, dinner, charity auction, lucky draws, and a closing party. It’s sure to be a great time, and will benefit a very worthy cause.
There are also still slots available for tournament sponsors. To register, sponsor, or to get more info, please call/WhatsApp Event Director Dave Avran on +6019.235 4775 or visit the PAWS Inaugural Charity Golf 2022 event page on Facebook.
