Do you have old shoes you want to get rid of? Instead of trashing them, why not donate them to a worthwhile recycling campaign instead! Launched on July 20, 2022, this EkoKnights program was started as a recycling platform in order for people to minimise and responsibly manage their shoe waste.
If you have old shoes marked for the bin, don’t throw them away! This initiative runs until September in the hopes to collect approximately 4,000 pairs of shoes that will be ground into granules, then used to resurface the playground of SK Bukit Tadom (A) in Banting, Selangor. Thirty shoe collection points have been set up across the Klang Valley and Johor, so there should be one not far away from you.
In collaboration with Dow Malaysia and Life Line Clothing Malaysia (LLCM), ‘Old Soles, New Life’ will be collecting old shoes that will be used to build environmentally friendly playgrounds or sports surfaces.
