Yet Another Year of Outstanding Results from GIS Students

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

From Harvard to Yale, Oxford to Cambridge, it is clear that the GIS sixth form experience has set these students on their path to success.

Garden International School’s consistently outstanding academic results place them amongst the best British international schools in the world. Year after year, students at the Mont’ Kiara based school surpass themselves and achieve some of the highest-scoring A Level and IGCSE results in the region.

This year, with 100% of examinations assessed externally, the diligence, perseverance and hard work of students, as well as the dedication to personalised learning, exceptional subject knowledge and support of teachers have undoubtedly paid off. The students, their teachers and their families have every reason to be exceptionally proud of their incredible achievements— well done GIS Class of 2022!

Genuinely inclusive as a school, the results are even more impressive when you consider how large the cohorts of students are and how many subjects are on offer.

At A Level:

  • A total of 282 grades awarded
  • 80% of all grades at A-Level were A*/A — that’s 225 A*/A grades from 85 students across 25 subjects
  • 68% of students received 3A*/A & above

At IGCSE:

  • A total of 1,191 grades awarded
  • 74% of all grades at IGCSE were A*/A —  that’s 881 A*/A grades from 126 students across 30 subjects
  • 51% of all grades were awarded A*

GIS is incredibly proud that the Value-Added (VA) result for our 2021/22 GIS Graduates continues the positive trend with our A Level students achieving +0.8 grade higher on average than forecast, and our IGCSE students achieving on average an incredible 1.57 higher on average than forecast.

This means that, on average, in addition to a student’s aptitude for learning, the GIS experience improved each student’s outcome by between 0.8 and 1.56 of a grade.  This is a true testament to the quality of our personalised approach to teaching and learning and the dedication of our teachers and students.

With GIS’s Sixth Form offering a broad, holistic curriculum and plentiful experiences and support to ensure that they are well prepared for the world beyond school, it is no surprise that 1 in 5 of the school’s students will go on to study at a World Top 10 University, with more than half attending a World Top 100 institution, and 92% successful in gaining a place at their first choice university destination. Remarkably, GIS’s Class of 2022 will go on to study 51 different courses across 47 institutions in 10 different countries.

From Harvard to Yale, Oxford to Cambridge, it is clear that the sixth form experience has set these students on their path to success.

“Congratulations to our A Level and IGCSE students on their outstanding results this year. They have achieved some fantastic results, having overcome many challenges over the last two years. Their determination, resilience and support for each other is truly inspirational.

“I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful teachers at GIS; their dedication and commitment to unlocking every student’s potential is exceptional.

“Our graduates of 2022 will now proceed to study at some of the world’s best universities. Many of our iGCSE students will continue their learning journey in our Sixth Form. To all of our students, we wish you all the best for the future!”

Head of Secondary, Ms Amy Ward, says:

“Our value added data again this year shows that, whatever the grade achieved, our students are performing above their expected attainment level and we know that there are factors in the teaching and learning, external to the students, that have contributed to the value.

“With that I’d like to thank our incredibly hardworking, dedicated teachers who really go above and beyond every day to give students a personalised experience. They care for every child coming through the door, challenging and supporting them and creating an environment in which they can truly thrive.

“Thanks also goes to parents who are a central part of success for our students and our exam results are testament to strong partnerships built this year. And last but not at all least I’d like to thank our brave, brilliant and inquisitive students who have risen to every challenge, committed to being the best version of themselves and have shown not just academic growth but have grown at Garden to be well-rounded global citizens.”

Dr Michael Browning, Head of Sixth Form, says:

“Having personally taught almost half of the class of 2022, I am so proud of their achievements. The phenomenal academic success and headline figures are testament to their drive, determination and desire to learn, and yet behind these results are even more inspiring stories of how these resilient students have overcome the adversity of the past years.

“These wonderful young individuals inspire and bring out the best in us, and it has been a privilege to be part of their narrative. We wish the class of 2022 well in their pursuit of happiness, health and professional progression. I personally look forward to hearing how the next chapters of their lives unfold.”
