Footie Fans Celebrate as Argentina Takes the Crown

World Cup parties abounded all over town, but SOULed OUT’s Finale Street Party was surely among the biggest and best!

After a month of cheers, tears and jeers, SOULed OUT’s Soccerfest 2022 campaign drew to a close on the night of Sunday, December 19… and then on into early Monday morning! The Finale Street Party drew a crowd of almost 2,000 football fans to its flagship outlet in Sri Hartamas for a great night of football, food, and fun.

Since the late 1990s, this really has always been among THE best places in KL for sports lovers to gather and cheer on their team. Today, the Sri Hartmas outlet has an incredible 35-foot LED screen for patrons to enjoy, but it wasn’t always this way. From the antiquated Barco screen to a regular projector to a HD projector, then laser projector till now, this fun-centric place has entertained hundreds of thousands… and the big finish to this year’s Soccerfest was no exception!

Now THAT’S a big screen TV!

The atmosphere was electrifying with droves of footie fans geared up in their team’s jerseys arriving as early as 6pm to secure front row seats. They revelled in the party atmosphere with plenty to eat, drink, and loads of entertainment to keep spirits soaring till the kick off at 11pm. Emcee Ben Ibrahim kept the crowd entertained with trivia challenges, as did percussionist extraordinaire Calvin Clark and guest DJ Discfunktion.

Elevating the mood even more was the cheerleading performance with acrobatic throws and precision manoeuvres, a specially customised Laser Mapping spectacle, and of course moves and grooves from the SO Gaya Dancers. The night ended on a high note where seven winners walked away with cumulative prizes worth RM10,000 in the Who Will Be Champion Contest.

Came hungry, left happy!

“The entire month was pretty challenging logistically. We have numerous areas for viewing, indoors and outdoors, and we really had to put the pedal to the metal… especially for the 3am games even when there were only three or four tables,” remarked Mark Choo, SOUL Society Group’s Executive Director.

“Personally, it was extremely heart-warming to feel and experience such a diverse crowd this past month. One Korean friend told me that she felt like she was back home because she didn’t feel alone supporting Korea at SOULed OUT. And this example really epitomises and encapsulates our philosophy of family, inclusivity, diversity… and it speaks volumes of our mantra of being a home away from home for many expat customers,” he added.

The big final from Sunday night is already being touted as being among the best in World Cup history, and the entire crowd at SOULed OUT for the match had a fantastic time, as everyone cheered out their team and got swept up into the drama of such a closely matched, hard-fought, back-and-forth game. It really was a terrific night.
