The new boarding and pastoral care facility at Soka International School recently enjoyed its grand opening.

Soka International School Malaysia is thrilled to announce the inauguration of its cutting-edge full boarding and pastoral care facility, named the ‘Friendship House.’ This establishment marks a significant stride in furnishing a secure and nurturing haven for boarding students, promoting cultural diversity and independence within a comprehensive learning sanctuary.

The grand opening of the ‘Friendship House’ was a landmark event attended by esteemed guests, including Professor Dr Edward M. Feasel, President of the Soka University of America, and board member of SISM, and Dr Sethu Kumanan, Chairperson of Sethu Bhasakara Group of Institutions, and Soka Ikeda College of Arts and Science for Women. The event gathered 800 attendees, comprising family members of enrolled students and families from various countries, alongside other distinguished guests. Their presence underscored the significance of the occasion and reaffirmed SISM’s steadfast commitment to instilling humanistic values, embracing diversity, and fostering a global mindset among its students.

Inside Friendship House: Home to SISM’s GReAT Culture

Friendship House epitomizes SISM’s dedication to nurturing value-creating global citizens. Named by founder Dr Daisaku Ikeda, every facet of this full-boarding facility is meticulously crafted to nurture a sense of belonging and camaraderie, encapsulating our GReAt culture, where students embody Grit, Respect, and Appreciation for one another. Currently accommodating approximately 110 students from around the globe, the facility offers a ‘home away from home’ experience amidst the serene 50-acre campus, distinguished by eco-friendly and sustainable architectural design.

The adjacent ‘Happiness Square’ cafeteria provides a diverse array of nutritious international cuisines, prepared by skilled chefs and certified dietitians, ensuring boarders enjoy wholesome meals conveniently and safely.

Enhancing the Boarding Experience

Friendship House boasts a range of boarding amenities aimed at enriching students’ overall experience, including gender-segregated quad rooms, communal study areas, student social lounges, a pantry, laundry facilities, and a well-equipped fitness zone with a gym and a 50-meter swimming pool. With round-the-clock security measures and Wi-Fi connectivity, students can communicate and learn conveniently, fostering a conducive environment for growth and development.

Parents can opt for Full Boarding or Weekday Boarding, with Friendship House capable of accommodating up to 360 students, currently hosting approximately 80% of its student population, with 50% representing the vibrant international student community.
