Marco Ferrarese

Marco Ferrarese has travelled extensively and lived in Italy, the United States, China, Australia and Malaysia. Since 2009, he’s been based in Southeast Asia as a writer, hardcore punk musician and researcher. He holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology with a specialty on subcultural performance (heavy metal and punk rock music) from Monash University Malaysia.

Marco has also published a couple of novels - Nazi Goreng and Banana Punk Rawk Trails – as well as some short fiction. Also, Ferrarese has written about travel, culture and extreme music in Asia for a variety of international publications such as CNN Travel, BBC Travel, Time Out and more. In the fall of 2016, Ferrarese will update the Malaysian chapter of the Rough Guide to Southeast Asia on a Budget.
