Held at the Ground Atrium at the beautiful Intermark Mall in Kuala Lumpur, this Deepavali promises to be something special and illuminating with a range of special events, performances, workshops, and more. Mark your calendar for event, which begins with the launch on Monday, October 30. Visit Intermark Mall and get in the spirit of celebration with 2023’s Festival of Lights, one of the most important dates on the Hindu calendar! The celebration goes on until November 13, and is open to the public.
See a classic Indian dance, enjoy a beautiful fashion show featuring the works of a Mumbai-born designer, learn the history and art of the saree, and even try your hand at making ghee!
In line with the mall’s ‘Hail Heritage’ positioning, Intermark is hosting enchanting Deepavali pop-ups showcasing two local artisans, kimkara and TC Design, to bring traditional and contemporary Indian attire and accessories to shoppers. Delve into kimkara’s founder Shikha Grover’s unique process to create “wearable art” by designing stylish fashion based on paintings and artwork. These pieces are paired thoughtfully with TC Design’s jewellery, specially handpicked for each ensemble.
Originally from Mumbai, Shikha Grover relocated to Kuala Lumpur a decade ago. Her profound passion for art, architecture, and design shines brightly in her creative endeavours. With over 25 years of experience as an impressionist painter, Shikha’s admiration for artists such as Claude Monet profoundly influences her artistic journey. In 2018, she launched her own brand, ‘kimkara,’ which breathes life into art on silk, featuring sarees, jackets, and kaftans. Each year, Shikha’s collaborations with fellow artists provide an inspirational platform to convey their narratives through her distinctive designs. ‘kimkara’ transcends mere attire; it represents an enduring fusion of art, confidence, and individuality.
Upon stepping into the Ground Atrium, shoppers can witness beautiful Odissi dance performances by the talented students of Datuk Ramli Ibrahim, along with classical Indian Peacock Folk Dance and Bharatayatnam Performances by the gifted Samitah Vimalan, which will promise to transport the audience to a world of grace, rhythm, and culture.
Of course, Deepavali isn’t complete without visiting the lively bazaar! Check out an array of delectable Indian snacks from Varali Arts and join the ghee ball-making workshop – a perfect family bonding activity to enjoy. Shop for luxury home decor at Hussain Maju Luxury Wooden Furniture to add a touch of elegance to your living spaces.
Deepavali is one of the most colourful and lovely celebrations on the Malaysian calendar, so do set aside some time to see what makes it such a special time by visiting Intermark Mall between October 30 and November 13 this year, and pay homage to the Festival of Lights with Intermark’s Dazzling Deepavali 2023!
