With over 2,638, 000 shares this month, this video is not only the most shared video in July but also demonstrates the power of promiscuity. The video is filled with topless models even though this is the toned-down version of the original video. The original music video of this song was banned in many countries.

This music video has made the song, the album, and not to mention the artist, Robin Thicke, household names. The creators of this video are fully aware of the power of social media as one can clearly see hashtags #thicke and #blurredlines being promoted in the video. “Blurred Lines” is not only a commercial success for Robin Thicke but also his collaborators on this song – Pharrell and T.I.

2. Naughty Boy – La La La ft. Sam Smith

The music video for “La La La” by Naughty Boy is slowly climbing the charts to the top and we have to wait and see if it topples “Blurred Lines” next month. In June, this video ranked fourth in the list of most shared videos. With over 2,669, 000 shares this month, this video ranks second on the list. This song is the second single off the debut album of Naughty Boy called “Hotel Cabana”. Naughty Boy, whose real name is Shahid Khan, has a lot of experience in the music industry having worked with artists like Leona Lewis and Emeli Sandé.

The video contains references to the Wizard of Oz and tells the tale of an old Bolivian legend. It includes the story of a little, deaf boy who is able to help people by screaming. The popularity of the music video of this song only reflects the popularity of the song, which has become the fastest selling single of 2013 in the UK.

4. Daft Punk – Get Lucky (Official Video) ft. Pharrell

The music video for “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk has been in the top 10 most shared music videos charts since April 2o13. This track became immensely popular since the day it was released. The video is a basic audio version video and even then the video was shared more than 1,760,000 times in July 2013. In June, the video stood second and has now dropped a couple places this month.

This year has been extremely successful for Pharrell as two of his collaborations have become viral. French electronic legends Daft Punk has made a resounding comeback with this chilled-out track featuring Pharrell on vocals.

5.  P!nk – Just Give Me A Reason ft. Nate Ruess

2013 has been a great year for P!nk. The third single off the album is “Just Give Me A Reason” and it has become the second best-selling song of 2013 in America. This collaboration with Nate Ruess from the popular American band, Fun, is a heart-wrenching ballad that talks of Pink’s personal experiences. 7. Miley Cyrus – We Can’t Stop

Miley Cyrus, another teen sensation, holds the spot at number 7 this month on  the most shared videos chart with over 1,302,000 shares in July 2013. The music video of “We Can’t Stop” stormed the charts in June – the same month that it was released. In another attempt to shed her Disney Princess image, Miley Cyrus is trying hard to emulate Rihanna in this video with highly sexual vocals and behavior in the video. It has definitely worked as the video managed to stir up a lot of controversy along the way.

8. GEICO Hump Day Camel Commercial

Silliness has always worked well for advertisements, and the latest Geico commercial is both funny and silly, and gets the right message across for Geico. Auto insurance can be very boring but the ads don’t have to be. Referring to Wednesday as “hump day”, the advertisement features a talking camel that is very happy as it is “hump day”. As the ad rolls on, two men claim that only the people who save hundreds of dollars switching to Geico are happier than camels on Hump Day. Created by the Martin Agency for Geico, this ad was shared more than 1, 179,000 times in July 2013.

9. Justin Timberlake – Mirrors

“Mirrors” by Justin Timberlake is a song that refuses to leave the charts. The music video for this song has been in our top 10 list since April 2013. “Mirrors” is a single from Timberlake’s highly successful third studio album called The 20/20 Experience. This album served as the comeback vehicle for Justin Timberlake after a break of six long years from the music industry. This video for this song was created by legendary director and artist, Floria Sigismondi, and has gathered widespread acclaim from critics. The song was supposedly written for Jessica Biel – Justin Timberlake’s wife. With over 911,000 shares this month, it is the 9th most shared video in July, 2013 – a drop in numbers from last month when it ranked 6th.

10.  Calvin Harris – I Need Your Love ft. Ellie Goulding

Just when this video was climbing up on our charts, it drops back down to the last spot with just over 893,000 shares in July 2013. In June it was ranked 8th. However, the track and video have become immensely popular and Calvin Harris’ collaborations almost always gain critical and commercial success. The breathy vocals of Ellie Goulding go very well with the electronic beats by Harris, creating this uplifting and melodious track.

Yeh, also there wasn’t much of a change in the viral video list from last month. Only that One Direction video and the GEICO video ad seems to have changed the top 10 list from last month: http://leapingpost.com/2013/07/04/top-10-shared-videos-online-in-june-2013/
