We don’t hold our Expat Penang Mingles at Batu Ferringhi very often, so this was a nice opportunity for those who live up towards the north of the island to enjoy an evening right on their own doorstep. Santai Bistro has been open for about a year and features a lounge bar with whiskey offerings and evening entertainment as well as being a restaurant with a wide range of fusion food..
Our Mingle partners from the IWA (International Women’s Association) also attended in good numbers with respective spouses. It has been a busy month for the IWA following a Charity Ball at the E&O Hotel and a Christmas Bazaar at the City Bayview Hotel. So it was very nice to see the current President of the IWA, Marlene Martin relaxing at the Mingle with her husband, Richard. Several other past presidents of the IWA were also present including: Leigh Pratt, Sandie Lenton, and Judith Ellidge.
The focus at a Mingle is on meeting people, rather than the finger food or drink and each venue showcases the offerings of its choice. Sometimes it’s enough food for a full dinner and sometimes it’s just delicious hors d’oeuvres which provide refreshment as one mingles.
