New Animal Welfare Law to be Gazetted in First Half of 2015

The new animal welfare law is set to be gazetted in the first half of this year, 2015. The new law will have heavier penalties for animal abusers.

According to Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, the Malaysian government is in the middle of firming up the management of animal welfare through formulation of laws, rules, regulations and codes of practice.

“This law is intended to promote animal well-being and responsible ownership as well as handling of animals.”
