This is why you should always wear sunscreen when you’re outdoors

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Sunscreen is important. You’ve heard it time and time again from your skin doctor and preachy friend. But the fact is, not putting on sunscreen can result in a gradual, permanent, transformation on your skin.

To prove this point, Thomas Leveritt, an Anglo-American artist, took to the streets (not in Malaysia) in 2014 and asked random passersby to stand in front of his ultraviolet camera. He then showed them how the sun really affects their skin when they don’t use sunscreen.

Keep in mind that the images you see can only be seen using an ultraviolet camera. Also, the damages visible via the ultraviolet camera are not yet visible, and will gradually take place as you age.

Here’s another video by Thomas Leveritt which was commissioned by Nivea on how the sun ages you. This video is a compilation that he put together over a year which shows the effects of sun exposure in children and how the sun ages people. The progression is quite shocking, and it will make you think twice about stepping out without sunscreen.

So, what do you think? Do you dare leave the house without your sunscreen on now? If you live in sunny Malaysia, don’t even think of not using sunscreen.
