Here at ExpatGo we’ve just heard news of a motion to implement Tourism Services Fees (TSFs) to all hotels in Malaysia, in order to help “support Tourism Malaysia’s promotional and marketing activities”.

The Ministry of Tourism and Culture (MOTAC) allegedly held a meeting today to impose the following fees:

  • RM30 per room per night for a 5-star hotel
  • RM20 per room per night for a 4-star hotel
  • RM10 per room per night for a 3-star hotel
  • RM5 per room per night for 1-star and 2-star hotels

The proposed implementation date is 16 September 2016. We will update the story as we learn more – have you heard anything about this? Let us know in the comments below.
