Whisky enthusiasts are invited to explore the distinctive character of Islay single malt Scotch whisky at an exclusive tasting with Kilchoman Distillery Brand Manager Catherine MacMillan.
Taking place at the Clubhouse, Royal Selangor Polo Club, in Cyberjaya, the November 4 event will feature four sample pours from Kilchoman’s range, accompanied by light bites. At RM68+ per person, it offers an accessible introduction to one of Scotland’s most characterful independent distilleries.
Founded by Anthony and Kathy Wills in 2005, Kilchoman was the first new distillery established on Islay in more than 124 years. It also revived the tradition of farm distilling, growing barley, malting, distilling, maturing, and bottling whisky on its own farm. This distinctive approach, encapsulated in its “barley to bottle” philosophy, gives Kilchoman a compelling story of provenance and craftsmanship that is absolutely reflected by what’s in the bottle.
The tasting will showcase four expressions: Machir Bay, Sanaig, Loch Gorm, and Batch Strength. Together, they offer an opportunity to explore different dimensions of Kilchoman’s whisky-making, from the maritime peat smoke and citrus character associated with Machir Bay to the richer, sherry-cask-influenced profile of Sanaig. Loch Gorm highlights the influence of sherry maturation, while Batch Strength quite unsurprisingly delivers a more robust expression of the distillery’s signature style.
With Catherine MacMillan on hand to share insights into the distillery and its whiskies, the evening promises an engaging experience for seasoned Islay devotees and those keen to discover the appeal of peated single malts.
