It’s the 7th KL Highland Games by the Selangor St Andrew’s Society (SSAS) sponsored by Borr Drilling!
As one of the oldest Loyal Societies in Malaysia, the SSAS has continued a legacy of sharing and upholding Scottish culture since its establishment in 1887. Its members – ranging from Scots, descendants of Scots, and lovers of Scotland and its unique culture – still continue to celebrate St Andrew’s Day and host social Scottish events.
The Highland Games are a spring and summer affair, and have events that have become emblematic of the Scottish and Celtic tradition. From bagpipe competitions, to kilt-wearing, to heavy events like the caber toss and tug o’ war, to an older version of rugby; the Games are claimed to help revive the modern Olympic Games when the Baron Pierre de Coubertin witnessed a display at the 1889 Paris Exhibition!
The SSAS supports charities in Malaysia, further enhanced through corporate scholarship of events including the KL Highland Games. A big thank you goes to Borr Drilling and 22 other sponsors that are helping make this event more successful.
