Passengers can enjoy a full year of travel throughout the ASEAN region with the new pass from the low-cost airline.

AirAsia MOVE (formerly known as AirAsia Superapp), a digital venture by Capital A Berhad, continues to grow as an online travel agent (OTA) platform catering to the ASEAN region, particularly through its new flagship product, the ‘ASEAN Explorer Pass’.

The launch of the ASEAN Explorer Pass took place on April 25, and was officiated by YB Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Malaysia, alongside esteemed figures such as Tan Sri Nazir Razak, Chairman of ASEAN-BAC Malaysia, and Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, CEO of Capital A and Executive Chairman of MOVE Digital.

This pass allows subscribers to travel the entire ASEAN region through AirAsia’s extensive international and domestic flight network, with added perks such as hotel discounts and connectivity through AirAsia Ride, all valid for a year from the subscription date.

From now until April 30, the ASEAN Explorer Pass is available at an early bird promo price of RM999 or RM89.91/month instalment, accessible via the AirAsia MOVE app. (Post-April 30, the pass will revert to its original price of RM1,188 or RM106.92/month instalment.)

During the launch, AirAsia’s clear shift to a more ASEAN-looking approach was notable.

At the launch, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said, “For over two decades, Capital A’s aviation business, AirAsia, spearheaded connectivity in ASEAN… To extend that further, AirAsia MOVE as an OTA has the capabilities to champion the cause of connecting ASEAN by facilitating a seamless travel experience and empowering travellers with options that cater to their needs right at their fingertips.”

The previous travel pass by AirAsia MOVE in December 2022 revealed substantial demand for intra-ASEAN travel, with over 80,000 international flights redeemed and flown within a year. Tan Sri Nazir Razak, Chairman ASEAN-BAC Malaysia, commended this initiative, highlighting its role in stimulating travel and bolstering ASEAN’s economy.

Existing ‘Unlimited ASEAN Pass’ holders from March 2024 will have their redemption validity extended until May 6, 2025, with travel permissible until May 20, 2025. Notably, holders seeking to redeem domestic destinations outside their own country will incur SST charges when converting to the ‘ASEAN Explorer Pass’.

AirAsia MOVE’s ecosystem encompasses a spectrum of OTA services, from flight bookings across 700 airlines to accommodation at 900,000 global hotels, alongside ride-hailing, dining, and insurance options, all underpinned by its MOVE Rewards loyalty program. The platform received ‘Asia’s Leading Online Travel Agency 2023’ by World Travel Awards, underscoring its industry recognition.

Complementing AirAsia MOVE is BigPay, Capital A Berhad’s digital payment platform, offering real-time currency exchange and low-cost remittance services, simplifying financial transactions for travellers.
