Lee Chong Wei, Malaysia’s star badminton player, has regained his post as World No.1 in badminton, after losing it early this year. Lee held the spot as World No.1 for four years, but was beaten by China’s Lin Dan in June 2012.

But Lee managed to reclaim his World No.1 title from Lin Dan after capturing his third Japan Open title in Tokyo on 23 September 2012. He secured a 21-18, 21-18 win over Thai player Boonsak Ponsana.

Lee’s title comes after taking home a silver medal for the badminton finals from the recent London Olympics 2012, when China’s Lin Dan won the gold medal.

It was reported that Lin Dan and his teammates boycotted the recent Tokyo tournament due to a diplomatic row between China and Japan.
