Print Friendly, PDF & Email

School students will be disappointed to learn that there will be more school days next year. Two extra days have been added, bringing the total number of school days next year to 205.

The New Straits Times reported that students will also get a shorter break which is 84 days of holidays next year instead of the 87 days they had this year.

Nonetheless, there are many state public holidays that coincide with school breaks. For instance, those celebrating Good Friday on March 29 next year will get to enjoy a longer break that month. Also, the Harvest Festival and Gawai in May and June 2013 coincide with the mid-year break, as does Hari Raya Aidilfitri which is expected to fall within the two-week break in August.

Based on the chart by the Education Ministry, school will begin on 2 January 2013 in all states except for Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu where school will start a day earlier.

The year-end break will start on 15 November 2013 in all states except Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu where the holidays will start a day earlier.
