The Expat Mingle at El Meson

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The Ramadan traffic may have made a number of Minglers’ journeys a trial, but the buzz from El Méson – the venue of our August event – was one of positive exuberance. Bangsar’s cosy, Spanish tapas restaurant was packed with expats and locals and the wonderful smells (and tastes) of the tapas bites that were streaming out of the kitchens all night. When not nibbling on tapas such as Berejena (aubergines in tomato sauce) or Calamares Fritos con Aliolli (crispy fried squid), glasses of Tiger beer and Strongbow cider – or red and white wines from Cronier wines – were being sipped and the chat swelled.

Lucky draw tickets were snapped up, and many were hoping to get their hands on the first prize of two return flights to Jakarta with KLM. Another sought-after freebie was the 3day/2night stay for six people at Anahata Villas in Bali, while many were thrilled to find themselves the winners of dining vouchers for either Irish pub Clover, healthy café Living Foods Bistro, or Saints Bar and Kitchen. A bottle of red wine and tickets to Berjaya Times Square Theme Park rounded off a great draw.

A good range of ages, nationalities, and professions gave the Mingle a great variety, and yet all guests were united in amicable chatter as the drinks flowed freely. Many opted to linger beyond the 9pm finishing time… always a good sign!
