Etihad and Garuda in Codeshare Deal

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Etihad Airways has signed a new codeshare agreement with Garuda Indonesia.

This new codeshare deal is the latest in a bout of codeshare deals for Etihad. The new agreement with Garuda brings the quota up to 42 for the Abu Dhabi airline, and codeshare tickets have already gone on sale.

According to the Business Traveller, in the first phase, Etihad will place its EY code on Garuda's services between Jakarta and Denpasar (Bali), and Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur.

Subject to regulatory approval, Garuda will place its GA code on Etihad flights from Jakarta to "up to 31 destinations in the GCC, Levant, Africa, Europe and North America".

“The airlines plan to expand the scope of the agreement to include more destinations in each other’s network – Etihad is keen to fly to more points in Indonesia itself – and offer passenger benefits such as FFP reciprocity and airport lounge access”, the Business Traveller reports.

This latest tie up with the world’s fourth most popular nation and the largest Muslim country will increase and complement strong demand for travel between Indonesia, the Middle East and Europe.

Last week Etihad signed a codeshare agreement with Air France-KLM.
