Malaysia Has No Plans to Abolish Police Speed Traps

According to a report in the New Straits Times, the government has no plans to abolish the speed trap cameras used by police in Malaysia, even with the introduction of the Automated Enforcement System (AES).

The police speed trap cameras will continue to be used to raise awareness in motorists to be cautious.

“Despite the introduction of the AES, the existing system (of speed trap cameras) utilised by the police will continue to be used as the AES is implemented by the Road Transport Department”, said Deputy Home Minister Datuk Wira Abu Seman Yusof.
