Heavy Rain in Terengganu, Pahang and Johor for Three Days

Those living in Terengganu, Pahang and Johor are advised to be prepared for heavy rain, for three days beginning this Friday.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department, there will be heavy rain in several areas of Kemaman in Terengganu, Pekan, Rompin and Kuantan in Pahang and Mersing, Kluang and Kota Tinggi in Johor. This may cause floods, especially in low-lying areas.

The Meteorological Department also warned that there will be strong north-easterly winds in the waters off Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Tioman, East Johor, Sarawak, Labuan and West Sabah, with speeds of between 50 and 60 kph with waves as high as 4.5 metres.

Small boats and other recreational activities must be put on hold for the time being as the sea will be rough.

Bernama says that the Department also issued a category 3 warning for shipping in the waters off Condore, Reef North, Layang-Layang and Palawan which are expected to continue facing strong north-easterly winds with speeds of up to 60 kph and waves as high as 4.5 metres until Friday.

Meanwhile, a category 2 warning was issued for shipping in the waters off Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, East Johor, Samui, Tioman, Sarawak, Labuan, Sabah (interior, West Coast and Kudat), Reef South and Bunguran, with the strong wind and turbulent sea conditions expected to continue until this Friday.
