Unveiling Of Firefly’s the New ATR72-600

Firefly has included a newest addition to its existing fleet of 12 ATR72-500 with the new generation of ATR 72-600s.

The first ATR72-600 was received at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang earlier this week. The airline is expected to receive in total the state of the art 600 series fleet of 20 aircrafts with deliveries commencing from this month onwards for the next 5-6 years.

This freshly delivered ATR72-600 entered service with its first commercial flight on 12 July, 2013 at 10.30am from SkyPark Terminal, Subang to Senai International Airport, Johor Bahru. Henceforth, it will join Firefly’s current network of flights and will be rotated across it all.

CEO Ignatius Ong said, “We are very proud to finally operate our new ATR72-600 from Toulouse, France. The turboprop is no longer a thing of the past. It is the future for short distance air travel. This innovative and efficient product will help us to further improve guest experience and most importantly safety of our passengers”.

ATR aircrafts are unrivalled in terms of passenger comfort and environmental friendliness and as a result will further improve guest experience. The new aircraft features the latest innovation with the award-winning Armonia cabin designed by world-renowned Italian design house Giugiaro Design and equipped with new slim-line seats with soft leather, larger overhead bins and appealing LED lighting.
