A wholesale outlet mall, a water and adventure theme park, an indoor theme park, a public library, countless food and beverage outlets, serviced apartments, hotels, offices, convention centre, and entertainment facilities – all in one property. This new mall, dubbed The Two, is being developed by Da Land and is set to be built on a 20.4ha site in Rawang.

The Two, once completed, will be the largest mall in Malaysia. The theme park – which alone will take up 5ha – will also be the largest indoor theme park in the country. Designed by the same people behind Disneyland Tokyo and Universal Studios Singapore, Sanderson Group, the theme park will house a number attractions from water slides to a flying fox, sky walks, and rock climbing.

This massive undertaking will be constructed in phases, over an eight to 10 year period. The first phase includes a mall, hotels, and theme parks. This phase is estimated to cost RM2bn out of the total development cost of RM5bn and will take about four years to complete, according to a report by The Star.

Speaking to The Star, Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) Town Planning and Development Department officer Ahmad Faizal Roslan noted that the project is at the final stages of approval, and that the project will benefit Rawang by boosting the tourism industry.

The development is located along the North-South Expressway, accessible from both sides and is roughly 20 minutes from Kuala Lumpur. The project aims to attract both locals and international travellers looking for a quick and accessible pit stop. Since the development seems to have everything in on spot, this might turn out to be the next big hang out in 2026.

Bookworms can enjoy the public library, adrenaline junkies can scale walls, shopaholics can go on a spree, and foodies can eat their way around the mall.

I fear it would be another South China Mall in the making. Much hype about this and now a dead mall.
