More than 7,000 consumer ratings and hundreds of quality assessments have helped Guinness Malaysia identify 30 outlets across the country that consistently deliver a properly served pint of Guinness Draught.
As any stout aficionado knows, there is, of course, a right way to pour a pint of Guinness. And while many of us are perfectly happy to accept a pint that arrives looking approximately like Guinness, it’s not too surprising that the brand itself would prefer that we pay a little more attention to what’s actually in the glass – not just how it tastes, but how it looks and how it’s served.
Guinness Malaysia has now named its Top 30 Perfect Pint Bars 2026, recognizing outlets around the country that have consistently met the standards expected of a properly poured and served Guinness Draught.

The list is the result of the brand’s nationwide Rate Your Pint campaign, which turned ordinary Guinness drinkers into something rather more official-sounding: Chief Pint Officers. More than 3,480 consumers participated, submitting over 7,000 ratings covering 677 outlets nationwide.
Those consumer scores were combined with Guinness Perfect Pint quality assessments carried out by the Star Academy team, producing the final Top 30.
And there is a little more to getting Guinness right than simply pulling the handle and hoping for the best.

SERVE, TILT, TASTE
Guinness has distilled the Perfect Pint process into three basic checks: Serve, Tilt, and Taste.
Serve starts with the fundamentals. The glass should be clean, the Guinness Draught should be properly presented, and even the humble Guinness coaster has its role to play.
Then comes Tilt, referring to the way the pint is poured and allowed to settle. The famous creamy head should sit neatly on top of the dark beer without spilling over the rim. It is one of the most recognizable visual signatures of a Guinness, and getting it right requires a little care.
Finally, there is Taste. A properly served Guinness Draught should deliver the balanced, smooth character that drinkers expect, with the presentation and pouring process helping ensure that the pint reaches the customer as intended.
The Top 30 includes participating outlets across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Johor, Perak, Sabah, and Sarawak, making this a nationwide recognition rather than a KL-centric bar list.

“When we launched Rate Your Pint, we wanted consumers to better understand what goes into a well-served Guinness Draught and give them a simple way to recognize quality for themselves,” said Sean O’Donnell, Marketing Director of HEINEKEN Malaysia. “The response showed that people do notice the details, and the Top 30 recognizes the outlets that have consistently put that care into every serve.”

There is also a considerable amount of training behind those seemingly simple three words. After all, the Perfect Pour – at least by Guinness standards – doesn’t happen by mere accident.
HEINEKEN Malaysia’s Star Academy programme works with Guinness Trainers and bartenders to maintain Perfect Pour standards at participating outlets. According to Guinness Malaysia, its 12 Guinness Trainers have trained 1,696 bartenders across 406 outlets nationwide.
That combination of training and consumer participation is ultimately what makes Rate Your Pint something more interesting (and legitimate) than a straightforward popularity contest. The campaign gives drinkers a reason to look at what is happening behind the bar, while giving bartenders and outlets a little extra incentive to get the details right.

For Guinness enthusiasts, meanwhile, it provides a useful excuse to explore a few more bars around Malaysia… you know, for “research purposes” or something. After all, there are worse ways to spend an evening than working your way through a list of places that have demonstrated they know how to pour a pint properly.
Here’s the list of winners, so if you’re in search of a properly poured pint of Guinness, you won’t go wrong by visiting any of these notable bars and pubs!
