An American couple who purchased a home in Forest City under the Special Financial Zone MM2H programme share their positive experience, explaining why the development’s lifestyle appeal and proximity to Singapore make it the right choice for them.
I recently wrote an article about Forest City, which is posted on our main MM2H website, MM2H.com. In it, I considered whether buying a home in the development represents a smart move or a risky investment.
Subsequently, one of our clients, American Michael Sang, who, together with his wife, Irina, applied for the Special Financial Zone (SFZ) MM2H visa and purchased a unit there, wrote to us about their recent visit. I thought their email was worth sharing.
It reinforces the central point of my earlier article: whether the SFZ MM2H visa and a property purchase in Forest City make sense depends largely on your personal objectives and lifestyle preferences. In Michael and Irina’s case, they are clearly very happy with their decision.
A Buyer’s Perspective
We just returned from Forest City after spending October 29–November 1 there. We arrived in Singapore on October 29 via a cruise and, after our visit to Forest City, flew out of Singapore back to Miami.
We experienced Halloween night at Forest City and had a lovely time. We are very happy with our decision to pursue the SFZ MM2H visa. Your November Expat summary was truly on point. We share your “cautiously optimistic” outlook. For us, as travelers who love Singapore, Forest City and the SFZ MM2H opportunity really fit our needs.
We saw new businesses opening and prospering, while others are still struggling. But one thing that impressed us was how they have created a nice, family-friendly atmosphere along the beach. The attached video captures Halloween night, but the weekends really come alive at the beach, both day and night!
We’re staying at Carnelian Tower, which is very convenient. We can simply walk downstairs and join the festivities, or catch the bus to Singapore, which we did a couple of times during our stay.
Overall, it was a wonderful visit and gave us even more confidence in our decision. We’re looking forward to seeing how Forest City continues to develop!
We are actually looking at purchasing a larger unit, so during our recent visit, we took the opportunity to look at a few units in Carnelian Tower, where we currently own our studio unit. That’s why Carnelian Tower works so well for us. We can simply lock the door and be gone without worrying about maintaining a larger property while we travel.
But Singapore was, and remains, the main attraction for us – particularly its cruise port and international airport. The convenience of being close to Singapore while enjoying Forest City’s beachfront setting is exactly what appealed to us.
I jokingly tell friends that we bought a beach resort in Singapore! From our balcony, we look out at the beach and Singapore across the water. That pretty much sums up why Forest City makes sense for us. We enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, the beach, and the convenience of getting to Singapore, while having a place of our own to return to between cruises.
Michael’s experience illustrates why Forest City cannot be assessed solely in terms of property values. For some buyers, the lifestyle benefits and access to Singapore may be just as important as the financial considerations.
