Use Public Transportation for New Year Celebrations

Those attending the Christmas open house and New Year celebrations at Dataran Merdeka tonight are advised to take the LRT and Monorail instead of driving.

Traffic heading into town will no doubt be heavy, which is why it is best to take the train.

The Christmas open house event, which is open to the public as well, starts at 8.30pm, followed by the New Year countdown.

According to RapidKL, the LRT and Monorail service will be extended to 12.45am, with selected stations operating until 2am.

The stations operating until 2am for the Ampang Line are:

  • Masjid Jamek
  • Hang Tuah
  • Bandaraya

The stations operating until 2am for the Kelana Jaya Line are:

  • Kelana Jaya
  • Bangsar
  • KL Sentral
  • Pasar Seni
  • Dang Wangi
  • Kampung Baru
  • KLCC
  • Masjid Jamek
  • Ampang Park

The stations operating until 2am for Monorail stops are:

  • KL Sentral
  • Hang Tuah
  • Imbi
  • Bukit Bintang
  • Bukit Nanas
  • Titiwangsa

Feeder bus service will also be extended on selected routes for tonight.
