If there is one thing Malaysia is known for – apart from the liberal use of the word ‘lah’ by locals – it’s the abundance of delicious food.

If you’re thinking this article just consists of a Malaysian being completely biased about how great the local food is, you’re wrong (even though I am definitely biased), because American chef, Anthony Bourdain, has announced that one of the dishes he wants really badly in his latest New York City food market venture is Sarawak laksa.

The award-winning chef, author, TV personality and food celebrity posted a list of 10 dishes that he feels everyone ‘needs and deserves’. The list, which can be found on the List App, includes nine dishes from around Asia and one from Mexico that he wants to make available at the Bourdain Market which is set to open in 2017.

The Sarawak laksa that Mr Bourdain raves about is from Choon Hui Café in Kuching. No doubt local Kuchingites will have their own favourite haunts for Sarawak laksa, but Mr Bourdian, who has featured this particular kopitiam on No Reservations and Parts Unknown, seems to have found his ultimate dish.
