Learn the fundamentals of traditional sushi-making with Head Chef Takizawa at an intimate, hands-on workshop at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, followed by a delicious Japanese bento lunch.
Ever fancied learning how to make your own sushi? Well, now’s your chance! Zipangu by Nadaman at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur is offering a hands-on workshop that puts participants behind the counter and introduces them to the art of traditional Japanese sushi-making.
Guided by Head Chef Kazuo Takizawa, the experience covers the fundamentals of preparing, rolling, and shaping sushi using time-honored Japanese techniques. Designed to be friendly and accessible, the workshop is suitable for anyone keen to try something new, whether a budding home cook or simply someone with an appreciation for Japanese cuisine.

Naturally, there’s a delicious reward at the end, too. Following the sushi-making session, participants can sit down to enjoy their own creations alongside a thoughtfully prepared Zipangu Bento Set Lunch, bringing together a morning of culinary discovery and an early afternoon of exquisite Japanese dining.
With each hands-on session limited to just 12 guests, the workshop offers a relaxed, personal experience with plenty of opportunity to learn. Private sessions are also available upon request, making it an appealing option for friends or small groups looking for something to do that’s just a little out of the ordinary.

Two sessions are scheduled for November 14 and 28, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The price is RM200 nett per person, which includes the sushi-making session and the Zipangu lunch that follows.
For anyone who has ever wanted to get a little closer to the craft behind their favorite Japanese dishes, this is a fine opportunity… and a most enjoyable place to start.
