Undisclosed Location is bringing a taste of Mexico to Kuala Lumpur this October 31, with an afternoon celebration featuring traditional dishes, tequila and mezcal, and Latin music.
Looking for something fun to do on Saturday afternoon? Kuala Lumpur is getting a little Mexican flavor this Halloween weekend, as Undisclosed Location hosts an afternoon celebration of Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, on Saturday, October 31. Running from noon to 5 p.m., the gathering promises plenty of good food, drinks, and music, with an emphasis on celebrating life and remembering loved ones.
The menu will feature a tempting selection of Mexican favorites, including tamales, pan de muerto, pibil, carnitas, and chorizos. Tequila and mezcal will also be part of the festivities, with Patrón lending its name to the celebration. Adding to the atmosphere, DJ Redd will be on hand with a soundtrack of Latin music.
Día de los Muertos is one of Mexico’s most distinctive cultural traditions, observed primarily on November 1 and 2. Rooted in indigenous customs and shaped over centuries by Catholic influences, the holiday honors family members and friends who have passed away. Families traditionally create colourful altars, known as ofrendas, decorated with photographs, candles, marigolds, and favorite foods and drinks to welcome the spirits of the departed. It is a heartfelt celebration of remembrance, family, and the continuing connection between the living and those who came before them – with food, music, and colour playing an important role.
That spirit is at the heart of the KL gathering, which invites guests to bring their loved ones along and spend an afternoon enjoying Mexican cuisine, a few good drinks, and the company of friends. It’s a chance to experience a little of the warmth and character of this Mexican tradition in a relaxed, festive setting.
