EQ Kuala Lumpur Brings Festive Dining, Rooftop Celebrations, and Christmas Cheer to the Season

Kuala Lumpur’s EQ hotel is welcoming the festive season with an extensive program of Christmas dining, family experiences, thoughtful gifting, and New Year celebrations, offering plenty of ways to make the final weeks of 2026 memorable.

There is no shortage of ways to celebrate Christmas and welcome the New Year in Kuala Lumpur, but EQ is making a particularly comprehensive case for keeping the festivities close to home. Its 2026 holiday program brings together an appealing mix of traditional seasonal fare, distinctive dining experiences, family-friendly activities, and lively celebrations, spread across the hotel’s restaurants, bars, and event spaces.

The festivities begin in November, with Thanksgiving BBQ Buffet Dinner at Étoile on November 28, followed by a BBQ Buffet Brunch the next day. From there, the calendar gathers pace as the hotel’s restaurants introduce their own interpretations of the season.

At Nipah, Christmas favorites take center stage throughout December, with festive buffet lunches and dinners, while Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas Day lunch offer more elaborate spreads featuring roasted specialties, seafood on ice, seasonal desserts, and unlimited chilled juices and soft drinks. Étoile takes a different approach, with a Christmas Eve BBQ dinner featuring roasted turkey and charcoal-grilled specialties, followed by a Christmas Day brunch.

For something a little more intimate, Sabayon’s Chalet Festive Sunday Lunch runs from November 29 through December 27. Meanwhile, Kampachi brings a Japanese touch to the occasion with a Christmas Eve omakase dinner, accompanied by a traditional Kagami Biraki sake barrel-opening ceremony, and a Christmas Day brunch buffet.

Families with younger children may find Bottega’s Teddy Bear Tea particularly appealing. Returning from December 1 through January 3, the experience includes tea or coffee, a dessert trolley, and a customized teddy bear to take home. Weekend activities for children aged six to 12 include teddy bear stuffing, gingerbread decorating, and colouring.

There is also a more generous spirit to the season. EQ’s annual Angel Tree Initiative, a tradition dating back to its Hotel Equatorial days, invites guests to select wish cards from the Christmas tree in the hotel lobby. Each represents a wish from a child at Shelter Home, with gifts and donations collected by the hotel team and delivered at a dedicated Christmas party. For those who prefer their celebrations with a view, Blue at Sky51 hosts its Sky High Celebrations on Christmas Eve, pairing festive sharing platters and live entertainment with sweeping views of the city. Earlier in December, Christmas Jazz brings an accomplished line-up of local musicians and vocalist Junji Delfino to the rooftop venue.

New Year’s Eve promises an equally varied selection. Dining options range from Nipah’s BBQ grill buffet and Kampachi’s omakase dinner to Sabayon’s more exclusive dining experiences. At Sky51, Blue begins its countdown celebrations in the early evening, while the Diamond Ballroom hosts a Retro Party from 9pm, with nostalgic hits and a dance floor ready for the occasion. A balloon drop in the hotel lobby marks the arrival of 2027.
