Cruising in Asia has come a long way, and Dream Cruises’ dazzling new Forever Broadway production aboard Genting Dream is proof that world-class entertainment is now an integral part of the journey.
For many travellers, a cruise holiday was once primarily about the destinations. The ship simply got you there. Today, however, some of Asia’s biggest and most sophisticated cruise liners have become destinations in their own right, offering dining, accommodation, attractions, and entertainment that rival major land-based resorts.
That evolution is on full display with the launch of Forever Broadway, a lavish new musical dance spectacular making its world premiere exclusively aboard Genting Dream. Debuting as part of Dream Cruises’ 10th anniversary celebrations, the production represents an ambitious collaboration between Dream Cruises and Broadway Asia International, bringing some of musical theatre’s most beloved songs to the high seas in a show created specifically for Asian audiences.

The result is another sign of how dramatically cruising in the region has evolved. Not so many years ago, onboard entertainment often consisted of lounge singers, simple variety acts, and production shows with modest staging. Today, cruise operators are investing serious money into creating experiences that could comfortably hold their own in established theatre districts around the world.
FOREVER BROADWAY SETS SAIL
Forever Broadway features iconic numbers including New York New York, Dancing Queen, Greased Lightning, Tonight, On Broadway, and other well-known favourites, all reimagined through energetic choreography, cinematic staging, elaborate visual effects, and a specially recorded orchestral soundtrack created for Genting Dream.
The production was conceived under the entertainment leadership of Colin Kerr, Senior Vice President of Entertainment for StarDream Cruises, and Vice President Sviatlana Burkun, who initiated the partnership with Broadway Asia International to combine Broadway expertise with Dream Cruises’ understanding of regional audiences.

Bringing the production to life is an impressive international creative team led by award-winning Broadway producers Simone Genatt and Marc Routh, alongside Director and Choreographer James Gray and Associate Director/Choreographer Naomi Kakuk. The cast itself blends internationally trained Broadway performers with a carefully selected group of resident entertainers drawn from Dream Cruises and StarCruises, creating an ensemble unique to Genting Dream.
The pedigree behind the show is hard to ignore. Broadway Asia and Broadway International Group have staged productions in more than 60 countries and collectively boast over 50 Tony, Olivier, Grammy, and other international awards. Their portfolio includes acclaimed productions such as The Sound of Music, An American in Paris, Beetlejuice, Hairspray, Mamma Mia! The Party, Stomp, Back to the Future, and the Immersive Great Gatsby experience.

The collaboration of this calibre of creative talent speaks volumes about the direction the cruise industry is taking, particularly in Asia, where operators increasingly recognize that memorable onboard experiences can be every bit as important as the ports of call themselves.
“Live entertainment continues to evolve, and today’s guests are looking for experiences that feel familiar yet reimagined in exciting new ways,” said Michael Goh, President of StarDream Cruises.
“Through our collaboration with Broadway Asia International, we are bringing iconic musical theatre hits to sea, combining Broadway talent with our resident performers and StarDream Cruises’ creative production capabilities to deliver a truly exclusive experience for our guests.”
The show extends beyond the theatre itself. Dream Cruises has partnered with Singapore’s Design Orchard and regional designers Bohème by Véro, Frey, and Raja Rani, incorporating selected fashion pieces and jewellery into the costumes alongside garments created by the cruise line’s own design team. A finale runway segment forms part of the production, while guests can even purchase selected merchandise onboard.

MORE THAN JUST A CRUISE
Forever Broadway also highlights the growing ambitions of StarDream Cruises itself. Officially launched in 2025, the company builds on more than three decades of cruising experience through its twin brands, StarCruises and Dream Cruises.
While StarCruises focuses on affordable, lifestyle-driven voyages aboard smaller ships, Dream Cruises caters to the premium segment with larger vessels carrying more than 3,000 guests. Genting Dream, the brand’s flagship, is homeported year-round in Singapore and sails itineraries throughout Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. (If you’ve been around Swettenham Pier in Penang at the right time, this huge cruise ship is impossible to miss!)
The introduction of a production of this scale reinforces the notion that Asian cruising is no longer simply catching up with global standards – in many respects, it is helping to define them.

A special preview performance was recently held during Genting Dream’s Singapore port stay, where media and business partners were invited aboard for a first look at the production. In a thoughtful community initiative, underserved families and volunteers from the Singapore Red Cross were also welcomed onboard to enjoy the experience. Though it was just a preview performance with the Genting Dream comfortably docked at Singapore’s cruise terminal, it definitely left us wanting more – always the sign of a good show!
For Broadway Asia International founder and creative producer Simone Genatt, the collaboration represents a natural extension of the company’s mission to bring world-class live entertainment to new audiences.
“Forever Broadway is an exclusive, high-end musical song-and-dance spectacular, combining the best of Broadway with the first-class entertainment experience aboard Genting Dream in celebration of Dream Cruises’ 10th anniversary,” she said.

For travellers departing from Singapore, Malaysia, and across the region, it offers one more compelling reason to consider a cruise holiday. After all, spending the day exploring tropical ports is one thing. Returning in the evening to settle into a plush theatre seat while a Broadway-quality cast performs under state-of-the-art lighting and special effects is quite another. It truly is the best of Broadway, now entertaining guests at sea!
Forever Broadway premieres exclusively aboard Genting Dream from June 5, 2026.
