After a lengthy hiatus, Expressions returned to the stage in June 2026, bringing together talented students from across the Klang Valley for two inspiring days of music, dance, creativity, and artistic expression.
Stepping onto a stage and standing in front of a crowd takes courage – especially when you are still in primary or secondary school. Yet over two inspiring days at KLGCC Mall in Bukit Kiara, dozens of young performers did exactly that, confidently stepping into the spotlight and showcasing their creativity and talent at the long-awaited return of Expressions, organized by TEG Media.
Last held in 2013, the beloved talent showcase made a successful comeback on June 6 and 7, 2026, bringing together students from 16 international and private schools across the Klang Valley for a celebration of music, dance, and artistic expression.
A SHOWCASE OF EXTRAORDINARY YOUNG TALENT
Day one featured an impressive 43 individual and group performances, with students taking to the stage before a live audience and a panel of judges. The range of talent on display was outstanding – from singing (including opera) and instrumental performances on the violin, harp, piano, French horn, electric and acoustic guitars, to K-pop dance, ballet, Latin dance, breakdance, rhythmic gymnastics, and traditional Indonesian dance. One particularly talented participant even wowed audiences with an impressive ability to identify flags from around the world.
Selecting finalists was no easy task. Judges representing KLGCC Mall and Sunway Medical Centre Damansara, together with an independent guest judge, faced the difficult challenge of comparing very different performances across categories and age groups.
With such a diverse range of talents on display, the judging panel carefully assessed each performance against a number of criteria, including Talent & Skill, Stage Presence, Audience Response, Creativity, and Originality. Particular attention was given to the performers’ ability to communicate emotion, engage the audience, and demonstrate dedication to their craft.
The exceptionally high standard of performances made the selection process highly competitive, resulting in extensive deliberation and careful evaluation before the final winners were selected from among the finalists.
TEG Media CEO Andy Davison praised the young participants and extended thanks to the schools and the event sponsors, as well. “We are delighted to bring back the popular Expressions talent showcase once again,” Mr Davison said. “TEG Media has worked with many of the top international schools in Malaysia for years, so we feel this is an excellent way to not only give back, but to also celebrate the exceptional young talent these schools are nurturing and provide them a platform to shine. Our judges had a very hard job this year, as the students all displayed such an impressive array of talent and showmanship. We thank every student who joined Expressions and put their best foot forward. We are also certainly grateful to Sunway Medical Centre Damansara, KLGCC Mall, and all our partners and volunteers who made this event possible.”
CELEBRATING THE WINNERS
By day two, the competition had narrowed to 20 finalists from both primary and secondary schools, all vying for top honours and cash prizes of RM3,000, RM2,000, and RM1,000.
In the Primary School Category, first place went to Li Xin Yan (STARS International School), who impressed the judges with a confident and accomplished Latin dance performance. Second place was awarded to Arianna Ong and Kaitlyn Chan (Cempaka International School) for their charming school box song performance, while the Sri KDU String Orchestra (Sri KDU) secured third place with a superb musical showcase.
In the Secondary School Category, the top prize went to Gebyar Nusantara Tari Piring (Indonesian School of Kuala Lumpur) for their captivating traditional plate dance performance. Pizzest Vocal (Cempaka International School) claimed second place with their outstanding group vocal performance, while Benjamin Tan (St Joseph’s Institution International School) earned third place for his outstanding piano performance.
Expressions concluded with a fabulous fashion show presented by students from Runway Community.
COMMUNITY, CARE, AND SUPPORT
Expressions 2026 was made even more meaningful through the support of Sunway Medical Centre Damansara, the event’s main sponsor, whose involvement extended well beyond sponsorship alone. Throughout the event, visitors were able to access complimentary health checks, including blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, and uric acid testing, along with a variety of other wellness services.
The medical centre also organised a blood donation drive in collaboration with Malaysia’s National Blood Centre, giving visitors an opportunity to contribute to an important cause.
Meanwhile, KLGCC Mall, as venue sponsor, provided the ideal setting for the event, bringing performers, families, and supporters together under one roof.

Judging by the enthusiasm, proud-parent moments, and exceptional talent on stage, one thing is certain: Expressions is well and truly back, and anticipation is already building for next year’s edition, set to return in April. We can’t wait!
