Kuala Lumpur – more officially, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur or the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, is the national capital of Malaysia and the country’s largest city, found on the central west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The city had an estimated population of 1.7 million as of 2015.
Kuala Lumpur is the financial and economic centre of the country, the current seat of the Malaysian parliament and the former seat of the executive and judicial branches of the federal government, which were moved to Putrajaya in 1999. It also the official residence (the Istana Negara) of the Malaysian King (Agong).
Kuala Lumpur is home to the tallest twin buildings in the world, the Petronas Twin Towers, and to several tourist attractions, including Merdeka Square, Petaling Street, KL Tower, the National Museum, Jamek Mosque and Sri Mahamariamman Temple.
