Train services on the MRT Putrajaya Line were disrupted on March 3 after a cable theft near Damansara Damai, with full restoration expected in stages over the next three days.
Commuters on the Rapid KL network faced delays early this morning (March 3) after a cable theft incident near Damansara Damai station disrupted services along the MRT Putrajaya Line.
In a statement, Rapid Rail confirmed that the incident was detected in the early hours and had affected the line’s power supply system, resulting in service interruptions.
“Comprehensive repair works are required to ensure the system can resume operations safely and stably.
“Services are expected to be restored in stages within three days,” the operator said.
Repair teams are currently carrying out intensive works to reinstate the damaged infrastructure and stabilise operations. In the meantime, alternative train services and free shuttle buses have been deployed to help commuters continue their journeys.
Passengers have also been advised to consider alternative rail routes where possible and to follow instructions issued by station staff to ensure safety and smooth crowd management.

The disruption is likely to affect not only daily commuters but also airport-bound travellers. Many passengers use the Putrajaya Line in conjunction with the KLIA Transit service to reach Kuala Lumpur International Airport, which serves both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
Out of an abundance of caution, those with flights in the coming days may wish to consider alternative transport options — such as direct airport rail services, e-hailing, taxis, or driving — until full service on the Putrajaya Line is confirmed restored. While replacement arrangements are in place, interchange delays could add uncertainty to tight travel schedules.
Cable theft has periodically affected rail services in the Klang Valley, often resulting in power disruptions and signalling issues that require extensive repair and safety checks before normal operations can resume.
Rapid KL said updates on service status will be shared via its official social media channels and the MyRapid PULSE application. Commuters are encouraged to check for the latest information before setting out, particularly during peak hours.
For now, patience — and a little extra travel time — may be advisable.
